When we approach summer time, you will notice an abundance of new make up launches. Some are old favourites repackaged in bright colour and some are limited edition pieces for those warmer months. Over the last few weeks I have been trying out some new makeup products to see what is worth your budget. I plan on doing some of these for lots of product ranges in the coming weeks so please do keep an eye out on my blog for some updated posts.
Lips
I have received many, many lip products this past month to try out and it’s impossible to narrow them down. But recently the most impressive have been from YSL. The Volupté Plump-in-colour is superb if you want hydration and intense colour in the one go. You get the great pigment as you would in the regular Volupté range but there is added moisture from coconut and pomegranate oil. I have very dry lips so this is treat for me. My favourite colours are Exposing Coral and Mad Nude. Also love the names. Brown Thomas currently have this in stock and it’s also available online here
Glow
You know how much of a Charlotte Tilbury fan I am right? I know, but you see she’s made some pretty awesome make up. For summer, Charlotte has introduced, Glowgasm, a range of highlighters to get the summer glow we see on beauty campaigns while models bask in the sunshine. Well now, you don’t need the sun. Good job as we don’t get that in Ireland. There are three sections to this range, but for me, the most impressive is the Glowgasm Face Palette (I’ve been trying the light, but there is a dark as well). The four powder shades have a highlight, multi-glow, pop blush and bronzer. Will save space in your carry on for sure. Apply with a pointed brush for more targeted highlight and a good blusher brush to blend.
Eyes
I’ve never been a big fan of liquid eye shades, but Bobbi Brown’s latest product is changing my mind. The new High Shine Liquid eye shadow works on it’s own or as a base for a deeper, more dramatic eye that you can layer on top with powders. I tried Copperhead (great for blue eyes) which gives a lovely shine without transfer. It comes in four shades.
Pencil
Clarins have long made amazing products, and I always loved their pencils. Nothing new here, but it’s been re launched for summer – the Waterproof Eyeliner. I am a hayfever sufferer and during the summer months I have to wear waterproof products due to runny eyes. This pencil stays put. That’s it. Simple, no fuss pencil, that has a great pigment and soft enough to blend. This is one of those products that should have a permanent spot in your make up bag all year round. Also has a very handy smudger on the end.
Bronze
Staying with Clarins, another re launch for summer in very snazzy packaging is there Bronzing Compact. This has come with me on every holiday over the last number of years. I love 002 Sunrise Glow that is so natural on my skin. In the compact there are three colours that, when buffed together, give the nice summer glow all over your face. In most of my Instagram pictures this month, I have this on my face. I don’t wear tan on my face, so this is the best product to blend into my next and chest so I am all matching.
