Spring is always a great time of year to update your make up routine as well as your wardrobes. I’ve spent the last month doing some research on new products as well as testing everything I get sent try to review for my blog. I’ve found some gems to start your new season look from foundations to nail polishes that I think are well worth the investment.
I like to change up my foundations all the time and I’ve put the new NARS Natural Radiant Long Wear foundation to test while working on Xposé this month. Not only does it last all day without touch ups, it has a dewy finish which sometimes I find is missing from longer wear make up. The shades are a good match for my skin and I particularly like Mont Blanc and Sante Fe for my skin tones. Keep light on the powder over this one to avoid a cakey effect.
I’ve got some small blemishes right now with the changing weather, and I’ve been using the Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Precision Concealer which has a tiny pen for covering even the smallest of spots. It dries very quickly so make sure you get it on right with the first application.
Colour is everywhere now, and red is always a classic one for night time. Bourjois have just released a new lip kit containing their famed Rouge Edition Velvet and matching Contour Edition lip pencil. This comes in lots of shades too, so if red isn’t for you, don’t worry. I love the red in this product as it’s so velvety and it seems to work nicely in richer tones. I also wear the lip pencil on its own sometimes with a coloured gloss to change it up.
Co-ordinate your lips with some Spring nail colours too. If you are opting for pink lips (very trendy) then try a lilac or violet shade on your nails. CND, the makers of Shellac and Vinylux, have just launched in the Salon at The Shelbourne Hotel and I got to try these colours first hand. Long wear polish is the way forward! If you prefer a quick coat then take a look at Kure Bazaar polishes. Backstage at Peter Pilotto in London the new shade “Amore” was used by the brand to pair with the Autumn Winter collection. It might seem a little dark for this time of year, but to me it’s an all-year shade.
At a recent event I was at, I listened to make up extraordinaire Mylah Morales, we should move away from contouring and focus on highlight for a natural, summery look. Less is more on our faces for this season. Two products I can recommend to do this are Max Factor Miracle Duo Glow and Sunkissed HighLights Beam Cream. Apply both of these cream based products with a tapered brush to apply a small amount to cheeks, brows and nose.
Have you tried any new products this month that are worth a mention? Leave me your thoughts in the comments below.
